The Vacancy: There is one part-time (3.75 hour a day), school year, permanent position. This recruitment will also be used to create an eligibility list, and to meet the District's need for substitute and temporary employees to fill vacancies for up to six months. The Position: Independently opens and/or closes a program. May assume responsibility for a program and work independently without a supervisor on site. Performs a variety of routine clerical duties such as recording attendance, keyboarding, copying, and filing. Assists in arranging room and play material to accommodate the daily schedule; assists in maintaining a neat, orderly, and attractive learning environment. Assists in preparing games and play materials; mixing paint; making play dough; and assembling props for daily activities. Under the supervision and direction of the teacher, conducts appropriate individual, small, and large group activities to foster social, physical, and cognitive development. Guides children in recreational and learning games and activities. Supervises and interacts with children during classroom activities to ensure their safety and well-being. Assists the teacher in creating a nurturing and culturally sensitive environment where children can develop to their fullest potential. Attends to the physical needs of the children such as diapering, feeding toileting, and resting. Assists children with development of self-help skills. Supervises students at play, directing play activities and the use of play equipment; observes and reports safety hazards; prevents children from engaging in unsafe activities. Attend and participate in various meetings assigned.
Required Qualifications: The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalence certificate; experience working in an early childhood learning environment; and/or completion of Early Childhood Education units are preferred, and proof of having been immunized against influenza, pertussis, measles, or qualifies for an exemption. Must possess a valid First Aid and CPR Certificate from an authorized agency. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview each weighted 50%.
