Title of Position: Guidance Counselor Intern Directly Responsible to: Director of Student Affairs Status: Internship Primary Function: The Guidance Counselor Intern is responsible for providing a comprehensive academic and social counseling program at the secondary campus. Areas of responsibility include student rostering/scheduling, maintaining individual student education plans; coordinating orientation activities for incoming students; guiding seventh and eighth graders in the development of their high school four year plan; consulting with teachers, parents and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; engaging in assessment, diagnostics, counseling and report writing; assuming an active role in designing, implementing, monitoring, and adjusting educational plans for individual students. The Guidance Counselor Intern will establish training and communication for and among Larchmont stakeholders, particularly, teachers, parents and students regarding establishing a path to academic success and healthy social – emotional growth and behavior. The Guidance Counselor Intern will work directly with the Director of College & Career Access to support the creation of a healthy and safe learning environment that demonstrates respect for all and supports student success.

Minimum Qualifications: (*) Bachelor's Degree (*) Enrolled in a program for earning a valid CA Pupil Personnel Services Credential (*) TB Test clearance & DOJ fingerprinting clearance (*) An enthusiasm for supporting students in navigating “life after Larchmont Schools" and building programs “from the ground up” to support a young and growing school program (*) Experience with and commitment to diversity, social justice and equality
