Day-to-Day substitute for daily vacancies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Principal or designee, works with school site administration to implement the District’s prescribed education program for pupils in the classroom.

• Teaches mathematics, reading, language arts, science, social science and writing, or other subjects as required.

• Provides planned learning experiences to motivate students, using weekly lesson plans.

• Provides small group instruction to adapt the Common Core State Standard and District curriculum to the needs of each pupil: Makes use of all available professional assistance in assessing pupils’ needs.

• Maintains standards of pupil behavior necessary to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

• Maintains professional competence through participation of in-service education provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

• Insures a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible.

• Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

• Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.

• Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees.

• Maintains security for materials, equipment and personal property by keeping classroom facilities locked whenever left unattended.

• Enhances professional competence by participating in district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

• Participates in and contributes to  faculty meetings called by the site administrator.

• Responsible to attend all staff meetings and remain until the meeting is officially closed.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Job Functions

• Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without hearing aids.

• Speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone.

• Sit, stand, walk, twist, bend over, grasp, reach overhead, stoop, kneel, push, pull and move, lift and/or carry 0 to 25 pounds to waist height.

Work Conditions

Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a classroom environment consisting of tables, chairs, orthopedic devices and playground equipment; work in an outside environment; come in direct contact with students, parents, district staff and the public.
