As needed on day-to-day basis, sub in classrooms at TK-8th grade school district. Under the supervision of the Principal or designee, works with school site administration to implement the District’s prescribed education program for pupils in the classroom.

Day-to-Day substitute for daily vacancies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Principal or designee, works with school site administration to implement the District’s prescribed education program for pupils in the classroom.

  • Teaches mathematics, reading, language arts, science, social science and writing, or other subjects as required.

  • Provides planned learning experiences to motivate students, using weekly lesson plans.

  • Provides small group instruction to adapt the Common Core State Standard and District curriculum to the needs of each pupil: Makes use of all available professional assistance in assessing pupils’ needs.

  • Maintains standards of pupil behavior necessary to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

  • Maintains professional competence through participation of in-service education provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

  • Insures a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible.

  • Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

  • Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.

  • Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees.

  • Maintains security for materials, equipment and personal property by keeping classroom facilities locked whenever left unattended.

  • Enhances professional competence by participating in district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.

  • Participates in and contributes to  faculty meetings called by the site administrator.

  • Responsible to attend all staff meetings and remain until the meeting is officially closed.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Job Functions

  • See and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without vision aids.

  • Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone with or without hearing aids.

  • Speak so that others may understand at normal levels and on the telephone.

  • Sit, stand, walk, twist, bend over, grasp, reach overhead, stoop, kneel, push, pull and move, lift and/or carry 0 to 25 pounds to waist height.

 

Work Conditions

Employees in this position will be required to work indoors in a classroom environment consisting of tables, chairs, orthopedic devices and playground equipment; work in an outside environment; come in direct contact with students, parents, district staff and the public.

Will need to be clear with Merced County Office of Education (MCOE) to sub in Merced County. Will need to provide proof of 30-day sub permit, credential or other documentation of MCOE clearance. Please attach copy of Credential/Sub permit to application.

Upon receipt of required documents, Weaver Union School District will contact you to bring in required documents and add you to the Frontline Substitute system.
