Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   
Definition: Under general supervision of the school principal or his designated agent, a student supervisor supervises children in playground activities.

Distinguishing Characteristics: May work alone in situations requiring firm and fair dealings with students or campus visitors. Does not provide materials or instruction as does the Instructional Aide. May work independent of certificated supervision.

Examples of Duties: Supervises students maintaining order to insure safe conduct. Follows established procedures in case of accident, injuries, and fire drill. Encourages children to observe fundamental courtesies while in lunch area. Encourages children to learn to play with others in social groups and observe the rules of the game. Attend inservice training as required. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualification Guide: Knowledge of student behavior; school rules and regulations; playground area and hazards.

Ability to: Deal tactfully and communicate effectively with students and staff. Understand and follow written and oral instructions.

Training and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent. One year of paid experience dealing with children preferred.

FINGERPRINT REQUIREMENT: California State Law requires that all employees be fingerprinted and show proof of legal right to work in the United States.
