About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as Cyber Security Analyst for the Information Technology Unit. The selected candidate will implement, monitor, and maintain cyber security programs for the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) and 28 Orange County school districts. This position will Investigate, assess, and document cybersecurity events and incidents. Identify and address critical systems and critical digital assets for OCDE and customers. The person selected will maintain cyber security attack mitigation, and incident response capability; operate security monitoring; assist in coordinated Cyber incident responses, attacks, intrusions, vulnerabilities, and risks. The Cyber Security Analyst will be responsible for developing and facilitating user trainings for OCDE and school district personnel. Primarily this role must have knowledge of Cyber defense methodology, technology and toolsets, have an understanding of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, IDPS concepts, CIS Controls or NIST frameworks, and techniques of penetration testing.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • One (1) to Two (2) years or equivalent of experience in information security technology, specifically with penetration testing, intrusion detection, incident response, or digital forensics. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university with major course work in information security, or a related field.
