Under the direction of the classroom teacher and the supervision of the site administrator, the Instructional Assistant at the elementary school assists in assigned instructional areas to meet the individual and collective needs of students and to assist in the daily operation of the classroom. The IA has a strong command of basic math and English language skills and understands the basic academic needs of children. They are aware of general classroom procedures, instructional methods and techniques. They are able to assist with learning activities and orderly classroom management. They gain the confidence of the students they work with and maintain confidentiality at all levels. They assist in other areas, as required.
