Under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor, dispatch the school bus and vehicle fleet on a daily basis, assisting in the overall operation of the transportation department, while assuring high standards of performance; assign School bus and vehicle drivers to routes according to established procedures, oversee the School Bus Aides.

Knowledge of: • Applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations concerning the operation of vehicles in the transportation of students in education setting. • Methods, procedures and techniques related to a large pupil transportation operation. • Health and safety regulations. Ability to: • Plan and organize effective and efficient school transportation routes and schedules. • Dispatch buses and vehicles according to schedules and needs of District • Maintain accurate records and be able to prepare complete and comprehensive reports. • Monitor school bus aides • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. • Consistently utilize positive interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesy. • Understand and implement oral and written directions. • Interpret, apply and explain laws, codes, rules and regulations related to assigned activities. • Observe health and safety regulations. • Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer. • Operate a two-way radio. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: • Graduation from high school • Three (3) years of experience in the operation of a transportation department in an educational setting. • Supervisory experience preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: • Valid Class C California driver’s license • Valid Class B California driver’s license preferred • Valid First Aid and CPR Certification issued by an authorized agency.
