JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of CalAPS, the instructor is responsible for instruction and training that will prepare the student for entry level employment as an Athletic Trainer. The instructor will be responsible for developing student skills, knowledge and attitudes commensurate to the goals of the program and effectively using materials and equipment to meet goals. The ideal candidate will also be keenly aware of and foster the technical skills students will need to thrive in the Health Science Medical Technology Industry.

This position will be located at Mayfair High School and it will begin Fall 2021. The class schedule is Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m-7:00 p.m.  (hours are subject to change). Lesson planning time will be included in the contract

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

> Teach entrepreneurial attitudes in students

> Work with industry partners to establish, coordinate and monitor students in regular workplace assignments

> Create active and visible links to the Athletic industry in order to produce internships/externships, and jobs for students

> Engage in data-driven planning and assessment of student learning

> Establish a culture of respect and rapport with the students which supports the students’ emotional safety

> Facilitate rigorous learning by delivering cognitively engaging lessons that incorporate our instructional methodologies

> Engage in critical reflection, constantly revising practice to increase effectiveness

> Participate in a professional community across your school site and the CalAPS network

> Develop partnerships within the community by communicating with families and bringing to bear resources that support student success in college, leadership, and life
