The San Diego County Office of Education is looking to add to its clerical substitute pool. Depending on your experience and training, your application may allow you to be eligible to substitute in the following positions:

  • Office Assistant I ($19.06/hr)- Typical qualifying background: Office/clerical training and experience involving a variety of office responsibilities and telephone reception.
  • Office Assistant II ($20.02/hr)- Typical qualifying background: One year of progressively responsible office/clerical experience and training demonstrating the knowledge and abilities listed on the job description.
  • School Office Assistant ($21.04/hr)- Typical qualifying background: One year of progressively responsible office/clerical experience demonstrating the knowledge and abilities listed on the job description.
  • Program Secretary ($21.56/hr) - Typical qualifying background: One year of progressively responsible office/secretarial experience and training demonstrating the knowledge and abilities listed on the job description.
  • Administrative Assistant I ($23.21/hr)- Typical qualifying background: Two years of administrative assistant or secretarial support experience demonstrating the knowledge and abilities listed on the job description. Course work in advanced secretarial, communications, business or a related field is desirable.
  • School Administrative Assistant I ($23.21/hr)- Typical qualifying background: Two years of progressively responsible office/secretarial experience demonstrating the knowledge and abilities listed on the job description. In addition, formal training in secretarial procedures and skills is highly desirable.
  • Work experience involving the use of computers for recordkeeping or word processing is required.

          It is important to note to become a substitute/limited-term employee, there will be a fingerprinting requirement that currently costs $77 (this is an up-front, out-of-pocket cost that must be paid in the form of a money order or cashier’s check). In addition, if you apply and are selected for a permanent position at any point there would be an additional $77 cost (currently) for fingerprinting as a permanent employee (taken out of your first regular paycheck).
