Benefits:

District contributes $9058.30 per year towards Medical, Dental, Vision and Life insurance; out of pocket costs will be determined based on level of coverage and plans chosen.

Work Location:

Elementary Schools; Employees assigned in this classification may be transferred to another school site, based on program needs.

Work Hours/Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 6 hour per day between 8:15 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.

Under the supervision of an assigned administrator and the Board Certified Behavior Analyst, with guidance from the school Principal, Instructional Assistants provide support to staff at assigned school with student behavior issues using training and strategies focusing on behavior de-escalation, behavior management techniques and other behavior strategies. Instructional Assistants will be required to have a high school diploma and some experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Completion of ABA college coursework and certification as a Registered Behavior Technician is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Performs a variety of specialized duties in the monitoring, analysis and treatment of identified students with behavioral challenges.  
Assists the BCBA in the development and design of Behavioral Support Plans (BSP), Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIP) and Individualized Education Plans (IEP).  
Collaborates and confers with certificated and other instructional staff to develop and implement behavior management strategies, goals, systems and techniques.  
Observes and analyzes student behavior in the classroom and playground; assesses classroom structure and current behavior management systems to develop and assist with the implementation of treatment plans according to individual student behavioral challenges, needs and issues. 
Responds to and supports Teachers and Instructional Assistants with critical situations and crisis issues.  
Administers Applied Behavior Analysis strategies and techniques to students in school setting. 
Assists in the preparation of related classroom learning materials.  
Assists students individually or in small groups to reinforce academic, behavioral and life skills.  
Assists students by providing appropriate modeling, emotional support, a friendly and positive attitude and overall guidance.  
Assists the BCBA in the development and presentation of training sessions for staff concerning behavior management strategies, systems, techniques and procedures; prepare and distribute related training and informational materials. 
Maintains files, records and other related materials; assists in the preparation of documents, reports and logs.  
Performs related clerical duties as necessary, including operating a computer and related software and operating a variety of office equipment . 
Attends meetings, trainings and other related events, as directed.  
Perform First Aid and CPR, as necessary.  
Perform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge and Skills:  Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis; positive behavioral intervention techniques; development of positive behavior treatment plans; personal needs and characteristics of students with special needs; principles of child development; instructional methods and techniques; school and classroom rules, policies and procedures; basic subjects taught in elementary school; correct English usage, grammar, spelling and vocabulary; record-keeping and filing procedures; operation of a variety of office equipment, including a computer and related software; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy;  public speaking and presentation skills; oral and written communication skills.  

Abilities:  Ability to perform a variety of specialized duties in the observation, analysis and treatment of students with behavioral challenges; implement behavior management techniques; attend and successfully complete specialized training and refresher courses to maintain current knowledge; understand the needs of behaviorally, emotionally and educationally challenged students; collaborate with a variety of individuals to meet educational needs of students; assist staff in the reinforcement of behavior management strategies; work and communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, instructional assistants and other staff;  maintain confidentiality; prepare and maintain files and records; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; use tact, discretion, courtesy and patience in dealing with sensitive and difficult situations; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; work independently with little direction; plan and organize work; learn, interpret, apply and explain applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures; operate a variety of office equipment, including computer and related software; administer first aid and CPR, as necessary.
