About the Employer
The Goleta Union School District (GUSD) serves approximately 3,384 students in preschool through sixth grade across nine elementary schools. All schools offer transitional kindergarten and strong support services, including special education and mental health, in addition to after-school care at all nine schools supporting approximately 1,500 students. GUSD offers embedded programs to address specific needs of gifted students and English Learners across the district. Each school maintains a 1.0–1.5 full time positions to support intervention needs for all students. Under the direction of a Principal or the Assistant Superintendent, Pupil Personnel and Special Services, assist certificated personnel in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills; assist students with essential life functions.
