Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the supervision and guidance of the NCOE College and Career Readiness Director and school site administration, plan and implement learning activities which encourage high school students to develop knowledge and skills needed for employment or advanced training in the Engineering field. This is a new pathway at New Tech High School and is full time. The objective of this course is to introduce students to engineering and robotics, safety, mechanical systems, fluid power systems, electronics, computer aided design and systems integration. Each of the STEM components of science, technology, engineering and mathematics will be implemented. The VEX Robotics platform provides the basis for learning the engineering process and documentation as well as how to develop both mechanical and programming solutions. Teachers are expected to attend planned professional development and implement learned strategies into daily classroom instruction. Candidates must be dedicated to growing professionally and collaborating with peers to establish a student-centered learning environment. Must be willing to work closely with employers and industry partners as well as maintain excellent communications and cooperation within the school community. The county is committed to the goal of developing a workforce reflective of the community's demographic diversity. Candidates who have experience with technology infused instruction and project-based learning are preferred. The chosen candidate will work with an employer advisory committee comprised of representatives from business and industry and will also be responsible for marketing the program to potential students with the goal of securing course enrollment.

QUALIFICATIONS, REQUIREMENTS AND ABILITIES: -Must hold (or be eligible to obtain) a valid CTE Engineering and Architecture or ICT teaching credential -At least three years of full time teaching experience in Career Technical Education -Ability to teach in a student-driven learning environment, facilitating the growth of college and career readiness skills -Candidate must have knowledge of college and career readiness options and expectations -Candidate should have strong organizational skills, have the ability to develop curriculum course outlines and behavioral objectives in the area of instruction, and have the ability to build relationships with employers and community members -Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively both written and orally required
