Requirements / Qualifications

Possession of a valid California Single Subject Industrial and Technology credential with English Learner Authorization or Eligible for a Career Technical Education Teaching Credential: Transportation. A designated subjects credential is an alternative route to credentialing that allows experienced industry professionals to seek out a teaching position first and then attain a teaching credential. Instead of completing coursework to attain a preliminary credential, a candidate must first find a teaching position in a school where the teaching assignment requires a designated subjects/CTE credential. Once employment is obtained, the candidate will then work with the district to apply for a preliminary credential through SDCOE’s Designated Subjects Consortium by submitting an application and evidence of meeting initial requirements.
