Franklin Elementary School District Job Description: After School Program Aide GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The After School Program Aide provides support and assistance to the After School Program Coordinator. This includes providing instruction or supervision to students engaged in specific programs or activities. This may involve working in a one-to-one ratio or with groups of students. The Aide will work with the ASP Coordinator to ensure all students are safe and accounted for while they are in the After School Program. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: This position reports to, and is under the supervision of the After School Program Coordinator and is assigned under the overall supervision of the Superintendent/Principal. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The essential duties for the ASP Aide include: • Following and carrying out all of the workplace expectations, policies, regulations and rules of the Franklin Elementary School District; including enforcing rules and expectations for student behavior. • Ensuring activities, facilities, and the ASP environment are safe; including reporting any potentially unsafe conditions to the appropriate person. • Providing direct instruction to students and supervising students while they participate in ASP activities. • Assisting students with homework and reading. • Leading crafts, play, or other activities. • Cleaning up after each activity. • Ensuring facilities, equipment, and supplies are properly secured and/or stored. • Other duties as assigned by the ASP Supervisor or Superintendent/Principal. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: • Behavior management and proper disciplinary actions. • Child development and appropriate activities. • School rules and behavior expectations. • How to properly utilize tools, equipment and supplies in the application of the program. • Education and/or practical training in student supervision, tutoring, fitness, games, crafts and cultural activities.
