JOB FAIR REGISTRATION: Complete the application to apply for Para Educator positions, attach required documents or attended Para Proficiency Test. (Applicants will receive an email invitation to test). Interviews will be scheduled for applicants that complete the requirements. JOB FAIR June 7, 2021 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at 1202 Stonum Rd. Modesto, CA 95354.
Position Hours and Locations: Para Educators work from 3 to 6 hours per day at various locations throughout Stanislaus County including but not limited to cities such as Ceres, Empire, Modesto, Oakdale and Riverbank.
Education and Experience: Substitutes do not require experience. Permanent placement requires experience working with children or individuals with disabilities. List any VOLUNTEER, PERSONAL or SCHOOL EXPERIENCE in the "Record of Work Experience" section.

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely handicapped students in a classroom; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help, social and community skills.

      PLEASE NOTE: Due to the new CALPERS requirements, retirees may not substitute for the first 180 days after their retirement date. TYPES OF CLASSES: Autism, Community School, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Emotionally Disturbed, Independent Study, Juvenile Hall, Learning Handicapped, Life Skills, Multiply Handicapped, Physically Handicapped, Resource, Severely Handicapped, Special Day Class, Transitions, 1:1 Assignment (Working with a specific student), Classroom Assignment (Assisting teacher in the classroom). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting light-medium weighted objects. Dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate specialized apparatus and standard office and classroom equipment. Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist students. Sitting to read a variety of materials and monitor student activities. Seeing to read a variety of materials and monitor student activities. Hearing and speaking to exchange information. HAZARDS: Contact with dissatisfied or abusive individuals. Exposure to bodily fluids and infectious diseases.
