St. Mel School is located in Fair Oaks and services St. Mel Parish and the surrounding communities by providing rigorous, standards-based curriculum for grades TK-8th grounded in Catholic tradition. A St. Mel education empowers students to become active, responsible Catholic adults whose lives reflect the Gospel values through “Integrating Faith with Academic Excellence.” Our mission is based on the School-wide Learning Expectations (SLE’s) which nurtures the ‘whole child’ spiritually, socially, intellectually, emotionally, and physically. We are a school rich in the Mercy tradition, Catholic identify, and academic excellence. St. Mel School provides a full curriculum in Common Core standards teaching Religion, Math, Literature/Reading, Writing/Language, Science, Social Studies, Art, Computer, Music, Physical Education and Spanish for all students in K – 8th grade. Our 1st grade teacher will teach all 1st grade curriculum subjects, except for Spanish, PE, Art, Music and Technology. The core curriculum is academically challenging and is designed to help students prepare for rigorous high school and college pursuits. We monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments several times during the school year. We are seeking a collaborative and dynamic candidate to join our team who is passionate about helping every student succeed and meet their full potential while nurturing their learning in a faith-filled, Catholic school setting.
