Job Summary

Job Summary

Bus Drivers are qualified to drive a school bus over designated routes for the purpose of transporting students to and from school and on special trips. Drivers may be assigned to scheduled routes or special trips. The Bus Driver is a position where incumbents must complete the training and attain licensure required by the State. Advancement opportunities exist beyond Driver, as incumbents can take additional training, develop special competencies, and become authorized/certified in instructing, dispatching, or route analysis.

Education & Experience: Any combination equivalent to: A high School diploma or the equivalent (GED). Successful completion of 20 hours of classroom instruction related to skills and safety requirements for driving a school bus and successful completion of 20 hours of instruction behind the wheel of a school bus. Licenses & Certificates: Requires valid Commercial Driver’s License; medical examination card; valid California Special Driver Certificate with School Bus and Air Brake Endorsement, and a valid First Aid Certificate. All certifications or licenses must have no restrictions. Must be able to pass mandatory drug tests.

Please obtain a K-4 form from the DMV, and attach it to your EdJoin application or bring it to the District Office.
