The Department of Catholic Schools Office of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Santa Rosa, CA is seeking a full-time Superintendent of Catholic Schools that is appointed by the Bishop and functions under policy direction from both the Bishop and Vicar General to ensure the implementation of diocesan policies and directives. The primary role of the Superintendent is to assist the Bishop in directing the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Santa Rosa. The Superintendent is the senior lay administrative person and chief representative responsible for working with parish and diocesan leadership to establish a collaborative, ongoing culture of excellent preschool - 12th grade education and continued growth that will ensure vibrant Catholic schools for current students and future generations in the Diocese. The Superintendent of Catholic Schools performs various administrative duties and responsibilities aimed at assisting the Bishop to administer Catholic education in the Diocese of Santa Rosa. In this capacity, the Superintendent provides administrative leadership and direction to parish pastors/parish administrators, school administrators and teachers regarding Catholic school policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and trends, issues and problems affecting Catholic schools and licensed preschools. Although not directly responsible for the financial or personnel management of schools, the Superintendent collaborates with pastors and school administrators regarding the financial condition of schools, their budgets, and employees. This position prefers a master’s degree in education, business or a related field; at least five years of supervisory/leadership experience in the field of education; and a clear understanding of Catholic catechesis. Preferred applicants should be professed and practicing Roman Catholics with a deep commitment to Catholic education. A Catechist Certification is required within one year of hire.
