          RISE Academy focuses specifically on county students who require a school more suited to their individual needs. The perfect candidate for this position is a teacher who understands that children living with adversity can be fantastic students that need more support from us. A teacher wants to make a difference in the lives of a small classroom of students, who wants to help students feel welcome every day, a teacher who can form healthy relationships and be a role model for students. This position works with administrative, instructional, and non-instructional staff to develop a holistic approach that emphasizes emotional wellness for students, improving the overall school climate and implementing trauma-informed systems to reduce re-traumatization, promote student excellence and increase positive academic and non-academic outcomes for students. The perfect candidate: * Will prioritize the creation of a safe and healthy classroom community * Has knowledge of trauma informed practices and/or is willing to learn more trauma-informed strategies * Has used or taught conflict resolution skills successfully and is trained in, or willing to learn more about, restorative justice practices in the classroom * Will willingly share their classroom with a paraprofessional; will also share classroom time, and will participate with, other service providers for such things as mental health services, stress-reduction, life skills development, and social-emotional learning and practices * Is a good listener with an open mind who understands how to help students have a voice, share opinions, and respectfully disagree * Is willing to facilitate the teaching of all subject areas through varied instructional techniques such as project-based learning, small group collaboration, media and technology (online curriculum) and community service, integrating subjects as needed * Can plan student activities consistent with the concepts of continuous progress * Knows how to use formative and summative assessments appropriately to monitor, encourage and gauge student progress and needs * Will readily desire to communicate with parents, guardians, and service providers on a regular basis and will encourage parent/guardian involvement * Is willing to participate in other staff development activities, workshops, and conferences to expand professional knowledge and skills * Looks at behavior as a symptom of a problem, not the problem itself * Understands that different students require different tools and strategies to support their learning Trinity County Office of Education PO Box 1256 201 Memorial Drive Weaverville CA 96093 If you have any questions contact: Dawn MacLaren at 530-623-2861 x220 or dmaclaren@tcoek12.org
