About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. CLASS TITLE: STUDENT ACCOUNTING & HEALTH TECHNICIAN BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of a Principal, perform a variety of general accounting and financial record-keeping duties in support of Associated Student Body (ASB) and related accounts and functions; provide student health care services involving in administering basic first aid, dispensing medications and screening ill or injured students. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform a variety of general accounting and financial record-keeping duties in support of ASB and related accounts and functions; process and verify various financial forms and documents; review accounts for errors and make appropriate adjustments. Administer basic first aid to students and staff as needed; screen and assess medical conditions of students; examine students and identify illnesses and injuries; perform first aid procedures such as cleaning wounds, applying bandages and providing ice as needed. Process accounts receivable in support of ASB; collect, receive, verify and process incoming cash, checks and deposits; issue and prepare receipts; count and record monies into proper accounts; reconcile and balance accounts and related financial statements; prepare and make bank deposits. Receive, review, process, sort and file check requests, invoices and other payables as assigned; issue and distribute payments from appropriate ASB accounts; prepare checks for signatures; maintain and update journals and ledgers with expenditures. Confer with parents concerning assigned health care and accounting functions and related issues, needs and activities; notify parents, administrators, health agencies and others of student illness, injury or emergencies as necessary; contact vendors concerning, invoices, payments and products. Input and update accounting, health and other information in an assigned computer system; establish and maintain automated records and files; develop spreadsheets and generate computerized reports and documents as assigned. Compile information and prepare and maintain a variety of logs, records and reports related to first aid, accounts, income, expenditures, reconciliations and assigned activities; establish and maintain filing systems. Compose and distribute a variety of correspondence such as letters and notifications; prepare and process various forms; duplicate and distribute materials as needed. Research, compile, prepare and revise accounting data and documents; compare and reconcile various fiscal statements, records, reports and documents to assure accurate fund accounting. Dispense medications according to physician instructions; maintain medication logs; prepare, maintain and distribute first aid kits to classrooms as required. Utilize standard health instruments; operate a variety of office equipment including a calculator, fax machine, copier, typewriter, computer and assigned software Communicate with District personnel, parents and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns. Assist with coordinating and participate in enrollment and registration activities as assigned; set up cashier station and prepare and reconcile related cash boxes; sell and collect monies for various school supplies as required. Maintain the health office and other assigned work areas in a clean, orderly, sanitary and safe condition; assist in ordering, receiving and maintaining inventory of first aid supplies. Participate in a variety of other assigned activities such as processing returned checks and collecting and following up on outstanding payments. Identify and respond to medical emergencies; perform CPR in emergency situations as needed. OTHER DUTIES: Perform related duties as assigned. Maintain accurate financial and statistical records. Prepare comprehensive accounting reports. Dispense medications to students according to physician instructions. Type or input data at 40 words per minute from clear copy. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software. Meet schedules and time lines. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Complete work with many interruptions Use assigned software at an intermediate level. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years general accounting experience.
