About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT: The ideal candidate will have a minimum of four years of increasing responsibilities in a school district or public entity Human Resources department. Experience with health & welfare benefits, leave of absences, Worker’s Compensation, benefits analysis, audits, and report preparation; intermediate to expert software proficiency; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; strong written and verbal communication skills; understand and resolve personnel issues, complaints or problems, and be respectful of diverse views and opinions. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an administrator or assigned designee; perform a wide variety of complex, technical and analytical duties related the District’s benefit, leave of absence and human resources programs for employees and retirees; perform audits, analyze data, reconcile reports and human resources invoices, provide benefit plan interpretation, guidance and counsel to classified and certificated employees; research, compile, assemble and analyze data and materials related to retirement and health and welfare employee benefit programs, worker’s compensation program, leave of absences and other related services.

KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in health and welfare benefits administration, human resources information systems functions, principles, practices, procedures and terminology, Workers’ Compensation requirements, practices and procedures, complex accounting practices, procedures and terminology, processing and evaluation of Workers’ Compensation and various insurance claims, employee benefit programs, practices and procedures, current employment laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures (FMLA/CFRA, ADA, CalOSHA, etc.) ABILITY TO: Input data into assigned computer system and generate complex computerized reports, provide excellent customer service to staff, administrators and other outside agencies, perform mathematical calculations in computing rates, premiums and adjustments. Provide consultation and technical assistance to employees, retirees and others concerning employee benefits programs, leave of absence, Workers’ Compensation and assigned activities, maintain, reconcile and balance insurance vender accounts (SEE JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FULL DETAILS). EDUC/EXPER: Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree in, business administration, human resources or related field and four years increasingly responsible human resources experience, analyzing data and creating advanced spreadsheets.
