Job Summary

The Murrieta Valley Unified School District is seeking the next Director of Transportation to lead and inspire the total operational function of the Transportation Division. Applicants must have at least two years of management-level supervisory experience, Completion of the California Department of Transportation Administrator Certificate, or the ability to acquire it. Possession of a valid Class B California Driver’s License with preferred experience as a driver, driver trainer and dispatcher. A degree from an accredited university most likely in business or public administration, transportation management, logistics or a related field is desired. The ideal candidate will have: • 2 years or more successful experience managing and supervising transportation services in the areas of budget, procurement, routing, scheduling, maintenance/operations, student ridership, compliance, safety, customer service, and human resources; • An understanding of technology and data analytics to evaluate and apply longitudinal performance management information to continuously improve the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of transportation initiatives, programs, and services; • A successful record of hands on leadership and personnel management; • The ability to energize and build collaborative teams and problem solve difficult situations. • Be able to establish a vision and develop actionable steps to maintain a healthy organizational structure and culture where teamwork and high expectations are the norm; • Experience in developing and implementing school bus transportation operating rules, regulations, policies and procedures within public education. • Knowledge of laws, regulations, contracts, and trends impacting the pupil transportation services industry; • Host the interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, parents, students, and stakeholder groups.
