POSITION SUMMARY Valley Charter Middle School is seeking an English Language Development (ELD) coach to support the design and refinement of a program to support English learners, to design and deliver professional development to the whole staff and/or teacher teams to support English language development across content areas, and to work closely and coach a new teacher who is responsible for the design and delivery of designated instruction to English learners in small groups. RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and/or refine current systems for assessment, intervention, and progress monitoring of English Learners across grades 6-8 Coach a new teacher to support in the design and delivery Design of small group instruction to English learners in accordance with standards and best practice. This includes support in lesson planning, modeling instruction with students, and observing and providing actionable, high-leverage feedback. Design and deliver professional development to support all content area teachers in fostering English language development in their classrooms QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must have a strong understanding of English Language Development standards and best practices, as well as common core standards. Coaching experience preferred Experience in the design and refinement of intervention programs for English learners preferred Experience working with diverse groups of students preferred Minimum Education: A valid California teaching credential with CLAD (BCLAD preferred) *VCS teachers will meet the requirements for employment of California Education Code section 47605(l) and the applicable provisions of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). SALARY AND BENEFITS: Between $55.00-$75.00 per hour, depending on experience. This position is for between 10-15 hours per month.
