GENERAL SCOPE

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs playground supervision as assigned by the principal


DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS


KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Basic subjects taught in the District schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and reading

  • Basic instructional methods and techniques

  • Classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct

  • Child guidance principals and practices

  • Safe practices in classroom and playground activities

  • Proper use and care of educational and athletic equipment

  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary

  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy

  • Basic record keeping techniques


ABILITY TO:

  • Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff and the public including members of the ethnic communities

  • Work confidently with discretion

  • Perform routine clerical duties in support of classroom activities

  • Print and write legibly

  • Understand and follow oral and written directions

  • Learn procedures, functions and limitations of assigned duties

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Learn, apply and explain policies and procedures related to school and program activities

  • Monitor, observe and report students’ behavior according to approved policies and procedures

  • Operate instructional, athletic and office equipment

  • Maintain confidentiality

  • Lift and carry up to 10 lbs.
