Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   
Primary Functions: Under the general direction of the Technology Coordinator, perform a variety of technical duties related to the installation, operation, repair and support of district instructional and management technologies. • Support school site applications that provide data for the Libraries, Cafeterias and Student Information Systems • Assist the Curriculum and Instruction Department with data design and management • Import / Export data for use in the Student Information System and for CDE applications and reports • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve stand-alone and network hardware, software and telecommunications problems • Provide on-site support as necessary to maintain efficient operations throughout the District • Install, configure and maintain stand alone computers and application software • Assist with the Installation, configuration and maintenance of local and wide area network equipment including file servers, workstations, hubs, routers, concentrators, switches, hard drives, printers, application and system hardware, CD-ROMs, tape drives and cabling at school sites and the District Office • Provide training to staff and students to ensure proper use of hardware and software, including troubleshooting of minor system setup and repair problems • Maintain records including operational documentation, system support logs, equipment inventory, training materials, catalogs and other pertinent documents related to computer and network operations • Perform all other duties as assigned. ABILITY TO: Operate standard office equipment, operate various computer applications software, test and troubleshoot hardware/software problems; use English in both written and verbal form; maintain effective and professional relationships with administrators, staff, students, vendors and outside agencies; work independently with minimal supervision. KNOWLEDGE OF: Computer technology and software systems, application programs, data communication networks, MAC and Windows OS, and Microsoft Outlook/Exchange; methods, procedures, materials and techniques used in the installation and maintenance of computer and computer systems; training end users to effectively us existing and new technologies, school district application programs such as SASI. EDUCATION: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by course work in computer science or data processing. Must be able to pass standard proficiency test of basic knowledge as well as any other skills related test. EXPERIENCE: Three years experience with microcomputer hardware and software applications, including spreadsheet, word processing, database management systems and communications software and hardware; at least two years experience with a networking environment and Web page design. ADA REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, drag, push, pull, lift objects weighing approximately 50 lbs. (i.e. computers, printers, monitors, files), grasp and handle objects on a continuous basis; adequate sight or corrected vision for the purpose of reading instructions and printed or written material and viewing monitors; hear and speak to communicate to coworkers, students and the public; dexterity of the hands and fingers to operate computer equipment. If you plan to take the Proficiency Testing, you MUST PRE-REGISTER by emailing Jasmin Perales at jperales@brentwood.k12.ca.us, no later than 12:00pm, Monday, 09/21/20. On testing date, please bring a government issued photo ID to check in and allow 1 1/2 hours. NO LATE ENTRIES. Due to the current COVID-19 situation and the need to ensure appropriate physical distancing of testing participants, if you do not pre-register for testing, you will NOT be allowed to take the proficiency test on Tuesday, 09/22/20.
