For Fall 2020, the class will be taught online. Monday-Thurdsay 6:00pm -8:30pm, 10 hours per week.

MVLA GED TEACHER
Duties Include:
Meets individually with GED students to evaluate the student’s level of ability and skill level in the five GED subject areas (math, social studies, science, reading/language arts, writing)
Creates an individualized plan of study for each student to achieve GED goals based on individual ability levels.
Teaches students by using a variety of methodologies, ranging from individualized instruction to small groups to classroom lessons to computer-assisted programs.
Works closely with other staff members and assists in assessing and helping students resolve health, behavioral and learning problems.
Administers practice GED tests and maintains a cumulative record folder on each student.
Performs basic attendance accounting and recordkeeping tasks as required.
Maintains a safe, studious classroom environment for all.
Seeks positive student-teacher and student-student interaction.
Assumes the responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes.
Attends periodic department meetings.
Maintains professional competence through participation in education opportunities provided by the District and other professional growth activities.
Plans and coordinates the work of volunteers and student teachers (when applicable).
Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Possesses a valid California teaching credential.
PREFERRED: Prior experience teaching GED classes.
Middle school/secondary teaching credential and experience.
SUPERVISION: Works under the supervision of the HS/GED Coordinator.
