AoPS Academy–Santa Clara is hiring for 4th/5th grade math teachers! The AoPS Academy in Santa Clara/Cupertino is currently hiring a math teacher for our advanced 4th and 5th grade level courses offered for this upcoming academic year (Fall 2020/Spring 2021). Anyone with experience teaching middle school math is strongly encouraged to apply, as our curriculum is more advanced than a typical 4th/5th grade level. This role is best suited for...: · A dynamic, enthusiastic teacher with a strong math background and diverse teaching experience. · Teachers who enjoy building relationships with talented students in a small classroom setting and making a direct impact on how they learn and approach mathematics. NOTE: Please ONLY apply if you are currently located in the Greater South Bay Area. Classes are temporarily being taught remotely due to COVID-19, but will resume in-person once it is safe to return to campus. Job Duties: · Teach the AoPS curriculum in dynamic, participation-oriented classes that focus on instruction and developing skills, not on rote memorization. · Actively engage students in the course material throughout each class. Understand how to manage a remote classroom while teaching online (temporary). · Thorough preparation, with some time spent before/after each class for planning and debriefing. About the Role: · Teachers may take on 1-2 courses per academic year to start. Each course meets once per week for 1 hr 45 minutes. Salary is a flat rate of $120 per class session, including prep time. · Weekday classes start in the late afternoon after 4pm PT. Weekend classes range throughout the day. Requirements: · Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field required. Master's/PhD is preferred. · Experience working with elementary or middle school students strongly preferred. · Candidates must be located in Santa Clara or the Greater South Bay Area and are comfortable commuting to our campus once it is safe to go back. · Willingness to teach either online or in-person - Zoom or other video conferencing familiarity is preferred.
