Qualifications (For teaching grades 5 and 6) • Bachelor's degree required; Credential or Master's in related field(s) preferred • At least two years of experience teaching students in upper elementary and/or middle school preferred • Knowledge of research-based teaching practices preferred • Commitment to support the New Horizon Mission and Vision Job Description Candidate should be prepared to: • Create a stimulating, exciting learning environment that demonstrates your own passion and interest in the subject area and ignites an eagerness to learn in your students in this age group • Provide rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum and assessments in the following areas: Singapore Math (Levels 5 and 6; follows Common Core), General Science (Grade 5-NGSS), and Earth Science (Grade 6) • Enhance STEM program with real-world connections, engineering design thinking and project-based learning, environmental science (school garden), and a firm understanding of the scientific method • Incorporate 21st century skills of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking • Use a variety of engaging, experiential teaching practices with relevant resources that support the learning • Integrate technology into the learning environment through smartboards, iPads, and laptops • Address the varied needs of diverse learners in the classroom with specific differentiation strategies • Guide students in the development of organizational and study skills • Utilize school's supplemental technology to support math program (Accelerated Math) • Design and implement an effective and supportive classroom learning environment • Regularly update RenWeb (school information system) with information on student progress and homework and project expectations • Participate in a collaborative faculty culture • Remote teaching experience • Maintain regular, constructive communication with parents to support student growth and confidence • Show willingness to improve

Qualifications • BA or BS required; CA Teaching Credential or Master's preferred. • At least 2-3 years of teaching experience in related subject areas. • Ability to relate to ten and eleven year-olds and demonstrate effective classroom management strategies • Passion for subject matter and for ensuring student success •Verified I-9 Eligibility Teacher Responsibilities • Preparing/implementing standards-based weekly lesson plans for four subjects: Singapore Math program (Course 1 and 2), General Science (5th), Earth Science (6th). • Conducting regular assessments of student performance and maintaining recordkeeping through school's technology-based grading system • Engaging students using a variety of teaching techniques and materials including technology, labs, cooperative grouping, visual aids, projects, hands-on activities, etc. • Creating a stimulating, dynamic learning environment • Addressing specific learning needs and styles of all students • Maintaining regular and effective communication with parents • Participating regularly in professional development opportunities and collaborative team meetings · Perform related duties as assigned.
