The Southern Humboldt Joint Unified School District crosses two counties, Mendocino and Humboldt, in the heart of the redwoods, extending from remote, mountain areas, to the Eel and Mattole River valleys, to Kings Range and out to the Lost Coast of the Pacific Ocean. Job Summary
The Southern Humboldt Unified School District wishes to announce an opening for a probationary, Account Clerk at the Southern Humboldt Unified School District Office. This confidential position will be 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 12 months per year. This is a fiscal record keeping position involving work performed according to established procedures and includes a variety of duties in one or more areas of accounting and data management. Salary Range 1, $15.94 to $18.45 per hour, depending on step placement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Knowledge of the methods and terminology used in accounting. • Knowledge of general office procedures. • Ability to post and make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately. • Ability to compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately. • Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and other office machines. • Ability to carry out oral and written directions. • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with adults and children. • Basic knowledge of secretarial and receptionist skills. • Ability to be flexible in meeting changing conditions and problems. • Knowledge of principles of letter writing and report writing. • Ability to deal effectively and cooperatively with those contacted during the course of duties. • Ability to perform duties with moderate supervision. • Experience using computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion. • Completion of 12th grade or equivalent with courses in office practices. • Demonstrate knowledge of and proficiency in accounting skills by passing a standardized examination.
