Job Description Summary

This is a short-term/temporary position.

 

Under general supervision of the Aquatics Lead and Program Coordinator, oversees the prevention of aquatic incidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, and regulations governing the conduct of guests at the pools. Participates as an aquatics team member in responding to and preventing pool emergencies.

 

Essential Functions & Qualifications

Required:

 

• Current certification in Lifeguarding, from the American Red Cross or equivalent

• Current certification in First Aid, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers, from the American Red Cross or equivalent

• Supervises aquatic activities to prevent injury and accidents from occurring

• Always uses 10/20 scanning rule

• Changes Position, Posture, and Scanning Pattern every 5 minutes

• Knows and uses the scanning zones at the pool facility

• Attends and participates in all mandatory in-service trainings

• Enforces all pool rules and stops any dangerous activity

• Removes any hazardous conditions or devices from the water

• Reports safety concerns to supervisor as needed

• Responds to rescue ANY guest requiring assistance

• Properly assesses patrons to administer first aid or CPR as appropriate

• Works with ALL other personnel during emergency situations

• Implements facility Emergency Action Plan as required

• Completes

• incident reports accurately and objectively as needed and during the shift when it occurs

• Maintains cleanliness of pool facility and staff areas

• Implements pool maintenance as required, which includes but is not limited to: pool vacuuming, hosing and disinfection of decks, testing and logging of pool chemistry, etc.

• Maintains punctuality when reporting for duty

• Maintains an acceptable appearance of both uniform and personal hygiene

• Maintains a high level of fitness by swimming, jogging, walking, etc.

• Completes department audits as required

• Completes cash handling duties as assigned, including collecting fees and passes, completing all necessary paperwork, counting all money with supervisor at the end of the shift, and preparing envelopes for drop off

• Works well with co-workers and all supervisors

• Sets a good example of proper pool conduct for participants to follow

• Acts in friendly, enthusiastic and caring manner towards patrons

• Sets a good example for new and returning staff

• Completes all tasks as assigned by supervisor

 

Preferred:

 

• Current Title 22 (First Aid for Public Safety Personnel) certification (required within 12 months of hire)

 

Additional Information

This is a short-term/temporary position.
