Job Summary

Responsibilities: Under general supervision, advise students concerning their post high school plans, coordinate overall operations of the College and Career Center and its programs, and provide college/career-planning resources; perform related work as required. Specific Duties Include: • Provide individual meetings with students to develop their post secondary school plans; • Develop and present workshops for parents about the college admission process; • Work with the College and Career Center volunteer coordinator to educate and train volunteers; • Update and coordinate the publication of the annual Paly-Gunn College Guide and the school profile; • Schedule and host visits from college admission representatives; • Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars regarding colleges, college entrance and financial aid to keep informed of changes within the profession; • Participate in counselor tours whenever possible in order to become more familiar with the unique characteristics of individual college campuses; • Maintain professional relationships with college admission officers at campuses across the country; • Supervise the creation and maintenance of databases for material on scholarships, visits by college representatives, and summer programs; • Develop and present College and Career Center orientation to assist students in using the College and Career Center; • Update the College and Career Center Web sites with current college information; • Write monthly articles for the “Reporter” bulletin; • Coordinate the Paly/Gunn College Fair on a bi-annual basis; • Support the programs of the teacher advisory system by preparing materials and collaborating with teacher advisors regarding post high school plans, programs and resources • Organize and coordinate work of the scholarship committee; • Perform other duties as assigned.
