Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Superintendent, administer the District’s personnel functions, hiring processes and employee relations program including such employee relations matters as grievances, complaints, unfair labor practices, and discipline appeals. Performs various duties relating to the general operation of the District office including word processing, data acquisition and analysis and assistance to the Superintendent and Chief Business Officer. This position requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, to complete tasks despite interruptions from staff, the public, and telephones, and the ability to interact successfully with persons of varying personalities on a myriad of issues. Duties require access to and possession of information regarding a variety of confidential issues relating to employer/employee relations. This is an overtime exempt position requiring attendance at meetings outside of normal working hours.

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities and be equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, industrial/organizational psychology, organizational development, human resource administration or a closely related field. Five or more years of significant, directly related and progressively responsible experience in public personnel administration, and at least two years in a management position requiring supervision of assigned staff, five years of increasingly responsible business and secretarial experience, preferably including at least one year of experience in a school district.
