Overall Responsiblities:
Provide direct psychological and asssessment service to students and staff and serve as a consultant to school staff, parents, and community agency representatives.
Specific Responsibilities:
Admininster psychological exams utilizing psychological testing devices to assit in: diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of learning, behavior and emotional problems.
Confer with parents, teachers, school personnel, and other agencies regarding: interpretations of psychological and other assessments, subsequent conclusions and related recommendations, developing and monitoring behavior management programs and providing other consulting service as required.
Write reports, referrals, notifications, and prepare other documents that are clear, grammatically correct, and understandable upon subsequent review.
Manage all aspects of testing and special education placement as requird including but not limited to: assisting in obtaining consent for testing and placement, follow up on findings and recommendations of the Individual Edcuation Plan team.
Participate in site committee meetings, student study team meetings, Section 504 Plan, Individual Education Program team meetings, meetings as needed by the special education staff and other meetings within the school(s) and department assigned.
Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating inservice related to pupil personnel services.
Provide individual and group counseling for pupils and parents who are experiencing learning, personal, behavioral, and emotional problems including substance abuse.
Keep informed on recent legislation, community services, and other resources relevant to helping individulas in the pupil personnel area.
Facilitate cooperation among staff members and departments.
Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Specific Knowlege of:
Correct procedures for conducting and interpreting psychological and academic assessments.
Techniques for counseling and consuling with students, parents, staff, and commmunity agencies in a variety of settings.
Current laws and practices related to pupil personnel.
Specific Ability to:
Work effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members facing serious psychological problems.
Provide non-judgmental support and consultation for special education and regular education students.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality about the status of students, staff, school and district activities.
Understand, implement, and give oral and written directions in English.
Work cooperatively with administration, other employees, and the public.
Contribute to the successful fulfillment of the District Mission.
Conduct responsibilites of the position based on information and instructions provided in English.
Learn and appropriately apply district policies and procedures and other regulations related to the position.
Operate calculator, computer and data entry terminal.
Learn and apply current technology to assigned duties.
Education:
Graduate Degree in Psychology.
California Credential in School Psychology.
Experience:
One year experience as a school psychologist or related experience, including intership OR three years experience as a classroom teacher or school counselor.
License:
Valid California School Psychologist Credential.
Valid California Driver's License.

Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal conversations and on the telephone.
Ability to see, read, and distinguish colors, with or without vision aids: computer screen, equipment used in the work environment, insturctional materials, training materials, directions, rules, policies, calendars, agendas, manuals, and other printed matter.
Physical strength and agility to push, pull, squat, twist, turn, and lift and carry bulky objects of up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.
Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in a safe, accurate, neat, and timely fashion and to make and evaluate the results of judgments and decisions.
Ability to drive all district vehicles.
High tolerance for continuing stressful situations.
