Job Title: School Secretary II
Reports to:Site Administrator

Primary Functions: Under general supervision, perform a variety of general clerical duties in a school office setting help to interpret the school program for the community and provide community feedback to the classroom experience.

Performance Responsibilities
* Independently answer routine correspondence not requiring the principal's attention
* Attend to needs of teachers, students and the general public, giving information as required
* Operate various types of office machines (typewriter, copier, calculator, computers, etc.)
* Type a variety of materials from oral directions, rough draft copy, or notes
* Type announcements, bulletins, handbooks, calendars, newsletters, report cards and other school-wide communication
* Type master schedule and room utilization charts
* Maintain record of employee absences and submit appropriate forms to District Office on a regular and timely basis
* Submit payroll documents (i.e., timesheets, extra pay forms, etc.) to District Office on a regular and timely basis
* Prepare work orders for sites and orders, checks and distributes supplies
* Coordinate and maintain school activity and facility use calendar
* Maintain records and do banking for student body funds and money collected from parents or students
* Duplicate materials; proofread finished copy
* Sort and file documents and records according to predetermined classification
* Answer telephone
* Receive, sort and route mail
* Distribute audio-visual materials
* Enroll new students and give information to parents and/or students about the school
* Maintain computerized records of student attendance and make regular reports of attendance to the District Office
* Confer with parents regarding pupil's absences and other matter of student welfare
* Train and supervise student help, parent volunteers, and regular school personnel who may be assigned to the office
* Administer minor first aid to students
* Assist Administrator(s) in all areas as necessary
* Perform all other duties as assigned

Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of: English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; modern office methods; computer functions and applications; First Aid and CPR training.

Abilities:
Understand and follow oral and written directions; communicate effectively both in oral and written form; complete assignments independently; perform routine clerical tasks; maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information; handle telephone contact in a pleasing and dignified manner; type at a speed of 45 WPM; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relations with children and adults.

ADA Requirement: Must have the ability to sit, stand, walk, frequently lift objects weighing approximately 10 lbs. (paperwork, files, etc.), push, pull, reach, twist, drag, and grasp objects.

Experience:
Two years of school office clerical experience desired.

Education:
Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade. Must be able to pass standard proficiency test of basic knowledge. May be required to pass skills related test.

Valid California Drivers License required.
