The Director supervises and coordinates the activities of MOT staff, district grounds, facilities, building maintenance, and transportation/busing functions; establishes preventive maintenance and energy management programs; coordinates priorities for all work in these areas; plans, manages and coordinates construction projects, supervises custodial and facilities maintenance, is responsible for overseeing transportation schedules, transportation staff and equipment garage, and acts as District representative for project reviews with inspectors, engineers, architects, and contractors. The ideal candidate has: Knowledge of: Operations, services, and activities of a building maintenance, repair, and construction. Materials, methods, terminology, equipment and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems including those used in performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work. Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation. Basic principles and practices of budget preparation and administration. Competitive bidding processes, as required under California law (e.g., CUPCCAA) Equipment, tools and materials used in facility maintenance activities. Public construction and project management principles. Principles and practices of safety management. Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules. Applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws. Licenses and Other Requirements Possess five years of experience in skilled trades work involving construction and/or maintenance of major building facilities, two years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. Bachelors Degree is desirable. Valid California Driver's License
