Job Summary

SBES, Inc. is looking for a fully credentialed TVI who can provide remote TVI services for students on SBES caseload. The remote teacher for students with visual impairments connects with students via video conferencing to provide direct and/or consultative special education services relating to visual impairments. Consistent and regular communication will be required for the fulfillment of the role. TVI Roles and Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Primary responsibility is to fulfill direct VI and consultative services as specified by the students IEP Create new IEP goals, in conjunction with IEP team, as needed to fulfill remote services Oversee in-person services, when necessary Educate students, parents, special and regular education personnel, school administration, and the student's sighted peers in: understanding the unique educational needs and learning characteristics of visually impaired students, becoming aware of services and support available from local programs for visually impaired students, acquiring information regarding local, state, and national resources for the education of visually impaired students, and interpreting the visually impaired student's specific eye condition, the educational implications of the visual impairment, and the results of functional vision and learning media assessments. Provide recommendations to the site administrator and teachers in making environmental adjustments for the student in the school and home. Communicate with the vision team to ensure materials are produced and provided in a timely manner (provide materials as able). Provide instruction in the development and maintenance of skills related to the Core Curriculum and Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), as indicated in the IEP. Prepare sequential and meaningful instruction geared to the student's assessed needs, IEP goals and objectives, functioning, and motivational levels. Complete service logs within 72 hours

Duties:

Will perform all the duties of a certified Teacher of the Blind and Visually impaired including:

  • Being an itinerant Teacher
  • Instruct in Braille, technology, and daily living skills
  • Perform assessments
  • Communicate between parents, students, school district personnel, and employees of SBES, Inc. 
  • Teach all components of the expanded core curriculum
  • Work with a wide variety of students, including regular education, multiply impaired, and resource students
