CA 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit or CA Teacher Credential. If you have one of these, and it's up to date, you do not need anything else, just proceed to the application. If you DO NEED a 30 day sub permit, we will assist you in applying for that, and you will need to have at least a BA degree and pass the CBEST. Please attach these to your application. Once you attach transcripts, they will be unofficial, so this is just so we may see you have a degree. You will either bring in hard copy official transcripts later, if you're being hired. Or, if ordering electronic transcripts, they must be sent directly to me at debbieb@fsusd.org. Please do not attach official electronic transcripts to your application. If you DO NOT have a sub permit or credential, a Certificate of Clearance is also required by the CTC. You must apply through the CTC website at http://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/submit-online.html. PLEASE NOTE: You DO NOT need to be fingerprinted by an outside agency for the Certificate of Clearance. FSUSD will fingerprint you as part of the hiring process, at no charge, when you come in with your paperwork. Just apply on the CTC website. After we fingerprint you later at your orientation appointment, your Certificate of Clearance will be granted by the CTC (notification via email; will include a document #). You will forward that to the credential analyst as part of your sub permit application.

If your sub application is complete, you will receive an email with access to hiring paperwork and further instructions. After you have completed the new hire paperwork and have all required documents together, please contact the Sub Desk and an appointment will be arranged for processing, as well as a meeting with our credential analyst, if needed, to apply for your permit. For the credential analyst, you will need to show OFFICIAL transcripts (hard copies, if you did not have electronic transcripts sent ahead of time), and passing CBEST results. Your degree MUST be accredited by one of the following: MSA, NWCCU, NCA, NEASC-CIHE, SACS-CC, WASC-Jr, or WASC-Sr. Also, if you don't already have a Certificate of Clearance, make sure you've applied for that (see link above).
