JOB DESCRIPTION

INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT TEACHER


DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, provides instruction to special education students individually and/or general classroom setting.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

· Provides direct instructional support to students with special needs, individually and/or general classroom setting.
· Provides consultation to staff and parents of special needs students.
· Conducts assessments, develops IEPs and participates in IEP meetings.
· Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:
· District standards and benchmarks.
· District core curriculum.
· Special education regulations.
· A variety of instructional strategies appropriate for different disability types.
· Successful collaboration and co-teaching strategies.

Ability to:
· Provide special education assessments.
· Write legally compliant and educationally meaningful assessment reports.
· Work in a collaborative relationship with parents, and general and special education staff members.
· Develop and implement a functional behavior plan.
· Provide staff development.

Education:
Appropriate California teaching credential.
