NATURALIST COORDINATOR with Stanislaus County Office of Education GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Stanislaus County Office of Education (S.C.O.E.) operates the Foothill Horizons Outdoor Education program for the 5th and 6th grade students of the county. The Outdoor Education Center is located five miles east of Sonora, California, at an elevation of 2,500 feet. Foothill Horizon Naturalists engage students in hands-on science lesson on our oak woodland campus.
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Outdoor Education Principal, coordinate and support evening programs assuring smooth operations for staff, volunteer counselors, students and classroom teachers. Provide supervision and discipline for all students within the established procedures and protocols as while maintaining the appropriate communication with all stakeholders. Organize and implement the naturalist intern training program; provide learning experiences for participants in the Outdoor Education Program; oversee program administration in the Principal's absence. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least three years' experience working with young people in an outdoor setting. LICENSE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate. Valid California driver's license. ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS: The following documents are not required at the time of application but will be required of the selected applicant prior to employment: Department of Justice Fingerprint clearance Tuberculosis Skin Test clearance Pre-Employment Physical/Drug Screen clearance Valid CA Driver License
