Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school supplemented by graduation from California Department of Education as a state certified instructor. Experience: Three (3) years of experience in the operation of school buses. One (1) year of experience in presenting classroom, behind-the-wheel, and/or in-service Bus Driver training as a state certified instructor is preferred. License and certificate requirements: - Possession of a valid Class A or B California driver's license with “P” and “S” endorsements; - Possession of a valid unrestricted special driver's certificate issued by the DMV for the operation of conventional and type 2 school buses; - Possession of a valid medical certificate as required by the DMV; - Possession of a valid state certified instructor certificate from the California Department of Education; - Possession of a valid American Red Cross First Aid certificate or pass equivalent tests given by the California Highway Patrol. Special information: • The safe operation of a District vehicle is required. • All applicants will be required to submit a copy of their recent (less than one month old from the recruitment closing date) DMV online driver record, which shows your driving record as required by California Vehicle Code Section 1808. This would be in lieu of the DMV printout (H-6) that was previously required that showed your driving record for the past 10 year. You may request the required document by paying $2.00 for a copy of your online driver record through this link: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/online/dr/welcome

EXAMINATION This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be one year (12 months). The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill future vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
