Upon hire, must provide: • Proof of High school diploma or recognized equivalent • Proof of CA driver's license • DMV H6 printout • Proof of auto insurance SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the AP/R&R Program Manager, the Child and Family/Provider Specialist will provide a broad range of case management activities for families seeking/receiving subsidized child care and/or for child care providers providing care within the Alternative Payment Program. A Specialist working primarily with families will interview applicants to determine eligibility for subsidized child care, provide information to assist families in selection of quality child care, and provide ongoing support once eligibility for services has been determined. A Specialist working primarily with child care providers will communicate with providers to determine available services and rates and provide ongoing support and problem resolution related to payments and client families in the Alternative Payment Program. This position is included in the classified bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership, payment of like fee, or donation to recognized charity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Training: High school diploma or recognized equivalent. Associates Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education/ Development or closely related field is desirable. Experience: Two years of experience working with families and/or providers in a Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Services or closely related field. Previous experience working in an Alternative Payment Program is desirable. Credentials and/or Skills: Bilingual English and Spanish. Basic understanding of child development. Knowledgeable in the use of a personal computer including Word, Excel and database applications. Strong oral and written communication skills. Proof of CA driver’s license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law. DMV H6 printout required. Must possess or obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hire. Oral and written fluency in Spanish/Hmong is desirable.
