Job Summary

Learning Commons Technicians coordinate the work at a school Learning Commons (formerly called Library). They perform a variety of complex technical and clerical services and duties in of the acquisition, processing, cataloging, use, maintenance, circulation and record-keeping associated with print and digital materials in the Learning Commons. They also assist with the operation and support of electronic media and devices, maintain library and media collections including processing and cataloging acquisitions and provide guidance and direction to assist students and teachers in utilizing learning commons resources.

Two years experience performing clerical and technical duties in a library/media center/learning commons operation, including assisting users with their research requests and use of other library print and electronic resources. Experience in a school library, media center, learning and/or information commons is highly preferred.

          Examination process: Completed applications are reviewed and candidates who meet the minimum qualifications participate in the following examinations: Multiple choice test (weight: 20%) on December 16, 2019. Performance test (weight: 30%) and Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weight: 50%)TENTATIVELY scheduled December 20, 2019 or January 7, 2020. The competitive basis for this recruitment is Open/Promotional-Dual Certification: candidates who pass all exams are placed on an eligibility list in order of overall exam score. The list is used to fill current and future vacancies for six months. If a candidate has taken the multiple choice and/or performance test for this San Dieguito Union High School District job title or similar job title within the past two years, candidate may be able to transfer the scores to this recruitment. The exam must be sufficiently similar, as determined by the Director, Classified Personnel. Prior to the application deadline, a request to transfer score(s) should be e-mailed to: barbara.bass@sduhsd.net. Transferring of exam scores does not apply to the Qualifications Appraisal Interview. Veterans may be eligible for preference points on examinations. Please attach a copy of your DD214 to your application. Employment with San Dieguito Union High School District is contingent upon successful completion of post-offer background check, fingerprinting, physical exam including tuberculosis, drug and alcohol screening, and an Oath of Allegiance. The probationary period for a new or promotional employee is six months or 130 days of paid service, whichever is longer.
