About the Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under direction of the teacher, assists in carrying out educational plans for individual students. Performs a variety of routine tasks to assist and care for children assigned to school programs. Transports students to and from school and on field trips as required. This position is exempt from the classified bargaining unit. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Satisfactory results from pre-employment physical required. EDUCATION: High school diploma or recognized equivalent. College coursework in general education, child development or special education (preferred). EXPERIENCE: Six months to one year of paid or volunteer experience working with and/or driving children. Experience working with special needs children preferred. CREDENTIALS AND/OR SKILLS: New employees must pass proficiency test or have 48 college units. Proof of valid CA driver's license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law. DMV H6 printout required.
