Job Summary

Provide behavioral support and instructional assistance to students emotional and other related behaviors in an assigned classroom or other learning environment; provide positive behavior interventions and instructional support strategies to assigned students; collect, maintain and record data on student behavior; perform a variety of clerical and supportive tasks.

Education and Experience: Any combination of experience and training which would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed herein. Completion of two years of college or equivalent. Two years’ experience working with students. At least one year working with students in an educational setting is desired. Specialized training in the areas of manual physical restraint, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Positive Behavior Support Systems and data collection desired. Coursework in psychology, child growth and development, education, special education or other related field. ESSA Compliance – Due to funding, all Behavior Intervention Facilitators must be ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) compliant. Must pass Paraprofessional Exam (This test can be taken at the Santa Cruz City Schools District Office) or have equivalence of two years college completion or AA degree. Education may be substituted for experience.

ESSA compliance may be shown by college transcripts showing at least 48 semester units of coursework or a copy of an Associates degree (or higher). Passing scores on an NCLB or ESSA proficiency test also meet this requirement. If you need to arrange to take a proficiency test, please contact our office before the closing date of this posting.
