Elementary School Physical Education Technician I Definition The Physical Education Technician works under the supervision of the District Physical Education Resource Teacher, and school principal. The Physical Education Technician supervises students in Physical Education activities so that students derive maximum benefits from the instructional program for Physical Education. Essential Duties 1. Supervise groups of students in Physical Education using lesson plans and methods developed by the District Physical Education Resource Teacher. 2. Keep necessary records for the students with whom he/she is working. 3. Complete necessary forms and reports for students with whom he/she is working. 4. Work with the District Resource Teacher for Physical Education selecting and developing curriculum and evaluation tools to be used in Physical Education. 5. Assist with the implementation of a perceptual-motor program. 6. Assist with the implementation of a complete physical education program in grades 4, 5 and 6. 7. Assist with the development and implementation of an effective after-school program for elementary students. 8. Participate in on-site and district-wide staff development in Physical Education. Qualifications 1. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and students. 2. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. 3. Physically capable of working with active young people. 4. High school diploma or equivalent. 5. Federal “No Child Left Behind Act” Requirements: • AA Degree or • 48 semester units of college credit or • pass the Fresno County Office of Education Paraprofessional Test License: Valid California Driver’s License Elementary School Physical Education Technician II Sixty college credits in addition to the duties and qualifications as described above. The employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff and occasionally work extended hours. Some driving is necessary. KCUSD Classified Standardized Test required may be required.
