About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. OCDE’s vision is that “Orange County students will lead the nation in college and career readiness and success.” Department staff are working to achieve this goal in collaboration with educators at all levels of student development, from early childhood through higher education, and in partnership with families, businesses and community organizations.

Job Summary
We are currently recruiting for a dynamic, creative Coordinator, Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) who will be responsible for implementing staff development, overseeing events and grant programs, interpreting state legislation and mandates, and partnering with the educational programs of arts and organizations throughout Orange County to serve our students. The ideal candidate will: Possess knowledge of and experience with strategies and practices in developing, monitoring and evaluating programs and activities in the Visual and Performing Arts. Develop vision and community for VAPA education in Orange County. Drive measurable and sustainable progress in arts education. Develop VAPA trainings and district plans for arts education. Possess management skills to plan, organize and implement complete programs; motivate and supervise team to ensure program success. Possess communication skills to interface professionally with community leaders and organizations to advocate for and implement VAPA goals. Establish and maintain arts networks and communications systems; recognize opportunities and develop productive strategic alliances and partnerships. Expand VAPA opportunities for all students, including special student populations.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: Education: A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, education administration, behavior management or a related field. Experience: Five years of increasing responsible educational experience including two years of administrative service in a public school setting. Credential: Possession and maintenance of a valid California Credential authorizing instruction.
