Job Summary

The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) is recruiting for Outdoor Education Interns to assist in the Outdoor Education Program at Cuyamaca Outdoor School in the beautiful, 25,000 acre, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park in rural eastern San Diego County. The Outdoor Education Specialist Intern will gain experience and training as an instructor in a residential outdoor education program for sixth grade students. After initial training period, lead your own core group of 16 students each week in the natural science education and social growth program. This position will help lead campfire and variety show programs, night hikes and Native American programs. Applicants must be able to work with a wide variety of people and personalities and fit into an existing team structure. Punctuality, attendance, patience and a strong work ethic are critical for success in this program.

Previous experience working with students and a B.A. or B.S. in the sciences, education or related field is preferred. Song-leading and playing guitar is desirable. American Red Cross/American Heart Association CPR and first-aid certification (or approved higher certification) required before starting work.
