Monday- Friday 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM ( 3 hours per day, 5 days week); 15 hours per week JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Principal, perform a variety of technical duties involved in registering and placing students in appropriate classes and Adult Education programs and services; provide technical assistance and advice to students concerning Adult Education instructional programs, classes and services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Register and enroll students for classes; receive and process student transcripts; evaluate foreign and domestic transcripts to determine appropriate student placement; participate in the preparation and development of student schedules. • Provide technical assistance and advice to students concerning Adult Education instructional programs and services; respond to inquiries and provide information concerning Adult Education offerings, opportunities, standards, requirements, processes, policies and procedures. • Interview and assess students in the identification of needs, interests and abilities to determine appropriate educational goals, objectives and placement; follow up on student progress to verify attendance, proper placement and completion of programs. • Assist students in establishing, pursuing and meeting educational goals such as obtaining high school diplomas, GED/Hi Set certificates, and enhancing computer proficiency by referring students to and enrolling students in appropriate courses, programs and services. • Process and verify accuracy and completeness of a variety of forms and applications required for program and course registration, enrollment and placement; assist students with completing forms and applications as needed; determine student eligibility for various programs. • Provide assistance to students concerning educational planning; assist students with completing enrollment and various other forms and applications; compile and distribute materials concerning educational and career opportunities; refer stu

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential KNOWLEDGE OF: General terminology, practices and procedures of a counseling office. Basic interviewing and advisement techniques. Diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Transcript evaluation and student enrollment procedures and requirements. Methods of collecting and organizing data and information. Record-keeping and report preparation techniques. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Operation of a computer and assigned software. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. ABILITY TO: Perform a variety of technical duties involved in registering, assisting and placing students in appropriate classes and Adult Education programs and services. Provide technical assistance and advice to students concerning Adult Education instructional programs and services. Distribute, process and assist students with a variety of forms and applications. Interview and assess students in the identification of needs, interests and abilities to determine appropriate educational goals, objectives and placement. Evaluate transcripts to determine appropriate student placement. Administer and monitor students during GED and various assessment tests. Work independently with little direction. Operate standard office equipment including a computer and appropriate software. Maintain records and prepare reports. Meet schedules and time lines. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. LICENSES/OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Incumbents must complete State GED/Hi Set training within a designated period of time. Some positions in this class may be required to translate oral and written communications between English and a designated second language.
