Career Technical Education (CTE) Teacher Technical Area: Information Technology Kennedy High school, West Contra Costa Unified School District The Position: The Information Technology Academy at Kennedy High School in West Contra Costa County is seeking a CTE teacher to instruct 10-12th grade students the fundamentals of computer systems management. The focus of the courses is network management. This is a 40% of full time position (.4 FTE). The teacher will instruct two periods. The course reference texts are from the Cisco Press Series on the path to CNNA Certification: Course 1: Network Fundamentals, CCNA Exploration Lab and Study Guide. Course 2: Networking for Home and Small Business. CCNA Study Guide Technical Requirements: The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years experience supporting Cisco-based networks. This position requires strong skills in Active Directory administration, PC configuration and support, server building and maintenance, Norton or other corporate level anti-virus solutions, and web hosting. The position will also support switches and routers as needed. CCNA and/or MCSE strongly preferred. Teaching Requirements: Must have experience teaching or training young adults in the networking field. Interested candidates must have or be qualified to hold a California Educational Credential. Requirements for the California Educational Credential are 5 years of industry experience where the applicant has worked at least 1500 hours per year, documented by employers. Coursework in a technical field can be applied towards the work experience requirement for up to 2 of the 5 years. Unpaid work can also qualify toward the work experience requirement. Applicants must be able to work with a diverse group of young adults aged 15-18. Spanish language skills a plus. Must pass a TB test and criminal background check as a requirement for working on public school property. Education: BS in Computer Science or related field.
