Lakeside Elementary School is seeking motivated and excited candidates who thrive in an inclusive setting working with students of all learning profiles. Our school site, nestled in the Los Gatos mountains continues to refine and improve upon our models for co-teaching, general and special education staff collaboration and ways to ensure all parties are able to contribute. Lakeside instructional assistants work in partnership with both general education and special education teachers supporting inclusive instructional models, promoting a positive, social and nurturing environment, as well as sharing their talents with the team. Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   

Essential Duties:

1.  Implements student's individulaized educational program under the direction of the special education teacher, speech therapist and classroom teacher.

2.  Presents educational lessons, materials or programs to students in a one-on-one or group setting

3.  Guides students in working and playing harmoniously with other students

4.  Implements approved strategies for behavior management

5.  Helps maintain proper classroom control

6.  Provides escort assitance to students as necessary for direction and safety

7.  Performs assigned instructional duties as determined by the teacher

8.  Helps maintain individual records of students

9.  Provides clerical and housekeeping duties as requred

10.  Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work as directed by teacher

11.  Assists with supervision of students during emergency drills, asemblies and activity periods

Minimum Qualifications:

Education as required by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001:  High school diploma AND two years of higher education study (48 semester units) OR possession of an Associate's or higher degree; Experience working with children;  Handle information in a discreet and confidential manner; Demonstrate understanding, patience, a positve attitude and genuine interest in working with students.
